Deliver the Dreams 8th Annual Fishing for the Dream Tournament nets thousands to help post 9/11 combat veterans.
Close to 30 boats lifted anchor on June 30th to make a big splash for charity during Deliver the Dream’s 8th Annual Fishing for the Dream Tournament at Lighthouse Point Yacht Club. Fishing teams netted $34,000 to fund the nonprofit organization’s Family Retreat for Post 9/11 Combat Veterans that will take place this November. Afterwards, the tournament festivities began with a Captain’s Cocktail Party at Lighthouse Point Yacht Club. Entrants and their families were treated to light bites while bidding on a variety of silent auction items including vacations, fishing gear, jewelry, gift baskets, and more. These funds have provided retreats for families dealing with critical illness and bereavement. Deliver the Dream’s Post 9/11 Combat Veterans Retreat will host as many 15 families (at no cost to the participants). This year’s tally brings the total raised for Fishing for Dream to $284,000 since its inception.
