TRANSPORT TO KOREA COTE
Miami is America’s first Korean Steakhouse™ which unveiled at the entrance of the Miami Design District. COTE marries the fun and fire of Korean barbeque with the hallmarks of a classic regal American steakhouse. Conceptualized by proprietor and visionary Simon Kim, the brand’s expansion reflects the notable energetic spirit behind their acclaimed New York-based flagship celebrated for being the first Korean steakhouse of its kind to blend world-class ingredients, impeccable service, and a show-stopping beverage program—a distinct methodology that has earned COTE several James Beard Award nominations and a Michelin-star each year since opening for four consecutive years. The only star awarded to a Korean steakhouse in the world. Under the helm of Executive Chef David Shim, the dynamic concept showcases an intimate and interactive experience revolving around state-of-the-art tabletop grills at every table, where steaks are grilled to perfection by their experienced servers.
NICE TO MEAT YOU
After the maitre’d took me and my guest to our table, we were ready to experience what COTE Miami has to offer. We decided to share the Butcher’s Feast, a feast that comes with four selected cuts of meat and is cooked to your preference. Our selections were the Filet Mignon, Skirt Steak, “The Flatiron,” and Hanger Steak. Other options of meats are the COTE Galbi, Picanha, COTE Steak, NY Strip, Bone-in Ribeye, and Porterhouse. Only the pinnacle of beef is served here at COTE. The Butcher’s Feast includes a few Korean accompaniments: Ban-Chan (pickled seasonal vegetables), Scallion Salad (mixed greens and gochujang vinaigrette), Red Leaf Lettuce with Ssam-jang, seasonal vegetables or local mushrooms, a Savory Egg Soufflé (organic egg with kelp yooksoo), Spicy Kimchi Stew, and Savory Dwen-jang Stew. All of the meats had different textures and flavors. The Kimchi Stew was savory, full of flavor, and deliciously paired with rice. The Savory Egg Soufflé was light and airy with a subtle egg flavor that enhances the ingredients you add. All of the food was prepared exceptionally well and paired well with its accompaniments.
SWEET SPOT
Although we were quite full from our meal, I was looking forward to a sweet ending. Included with the Butcher’s Feast is a cup of soft serve ice cream drizzled with soy caramel sauce, for a salty caramel taste that will certainly hit the sweet spot. Moreover, if you would prefer to dine at home, COTE Miami offers readyto- grill steak packages such as their signature Butcher’s Feast, the Galbi Feast, and more for national shipping through their shipping partner, Goldbelly. Additionally, they can also arrange corporate gifting and large volume orders.
