FORT LAUDERDALE HAS JUST ACQUIRED A NEW HOT SPOT, SISTRUNK MARKETPLACE & BREWERY, AND IT HAS ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY. THE 24,000 SQUARE FOOT FOOD HALL, MIXED-USE EVENT SPACE, AND RETAIL CONCEPT JUST PREMIERED IN SEPTEMBER AND IS ALREADY AN ESTABLISHED MUST-SEE ATTRACTION.

Debuting within the historic Sistrunk district is the brand-new Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery, which features 12 restaurant concepts, a DJ and production music academy, and a co-op style retail boutique called SistrunKollective. The stunning marketplace was conceptualized and brought to life by Steven Dapuzzo of Society 8 Hospitality Group. Dapuzzo is a culinary expert who has launched several successful restaurant concepts including SoLita, Beauty & the Feast, Park & Ocean, and Wild Thyme Oceanside Eatery.
The first of its kind in the city, the marketplace has already created a ton of buzz thanks to its diverse and delicious restaurant options. This is Fort Lauderdale’s first food hall, taking after Miami-Dade which currently has about nine of them.
“Fort Lauderdale has such a rich and diverse food culture, championing the city’s reputation as a culinary destination. South Floridians have truly worldly palates and an insatiable interest for all kinds of cuisines, which make the possibilities endless for a food hall,” said Steven Dapuzzo, of Society 8 Hospitality Group. “I am excited to bring locals Fort Lauderdale’s first food hall and provide a fun and diverse dining experience.”
Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery currently has 12 eatery concepts which include Bronte Café, The Chop Shoppe, The Empanada Bodega, Fuoco Roman Pizza, Heavenly Raw, Hot Lime Craft Tacos and Ceviche, Kasai + Koori Asian Desserts, Needa’ Pita, Nellie’s Country Kitchen, OSOM Crepes, Poke OG, and Senbazuru Ramen. There’s clearly tastes for every palate here with Asian options, Italian plates, Hispanic entrees, and plenty for the sweets addict as well.

If you can’t go a day without your morning coffee, Bronte Café is your new favorite spot for the best java. This Australian café focuses on “outstanding espresso and laid-back, beach-centric vibes.” Their coffee is made by local roaster Oceana and they brew several coffee varieties from cold brews to Long Blacks and Flat Whites.

Craving Italian? Fuoco promises Italian soul food and pizza. With their wood-fire oven they serve up some of the best wood-fired Roman-style pizzas around. Their pasta dishes are a prime highlight as well with crispy eggplant with mozzarella, tomato and arugula, and meatballs in San Marzano tomato sauce with Ricotta cheese. Delizioso!

For Hispanic treats and entrees try out The Empanada Bodega or Hot Lime. Empanada Bodega cooks up fresh handmade empanadas that come with various, unique fillings. There’s beef, chicken, BBQ pork, shrimp, Hawaiian, and even guava and cheese.

At Hot Lime, you will find a mouthwatering craft taco and ceviche concept. The menu reflects Fort Lauderdale’s diverse cultural scene with Peruvian ceviche to Argentinian tacos to fresh, made-to-order guacamole prepared counter-side. Yum!
Dessert-lovers will be in heaven at this food hall thanks to the two sugary gems here: Kasai + Koori and OSOM Crepes. Kasai + Koori features innovative Asian desserts like Japanese Kakigori (shaved ice with flavorings and toppings), Ribbon Ice (thin-shaved delicacy from Southeast Asia), mochi, Taiyaki Waffle Cones (a fish-shaped ice cream cone filled with tasty ice cream), and more.

OSOM Crepes has crepes that are both savory, like the Salmon Crepe, and sweet, like the Cheese Cake Crepe. You also have the option of adding extra toppings like Nutella, strawberries, dulce de leche, and others.
Also set to open on the property is Khoffner Brewery and Shady Distillery for those looking for something to quench their thirst. In the future, as the marketplace grows their offerings; cooking classes and distillery tours, as well as themed nights and entertainment such as Sunday brunches, wine pairings, a Wednesday Dinner and Movie Night, and more will become available.
In accordance with CDC guidelines, Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery’s food hall is operating with limited capacity, so before you head out to visit, be sure to make a reservation online. When you arrive, wait staff will then verify your reservation at the entrance and direct you to the table side online ordering app.
