Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. was born in San Mateo, California on August 3, 1977. He grew up a fan of the San Francisco 49ers and was a huge fan of Joe Montana. In high school, Brady played football, basketball, and baseball at Junipero Serra. He began as a back-up quarterback and eventually became the starter in his junior year and never looked back.
Brady chose to attend the University of Michigan. Brady was 7th on the list of quarterbacks at Michigan and really struggled to find his way. Eventually, he would wrestle the starting position away from everyone else and started every game in 1998 and 1999. In his two seasons as the starter, Brady was 20-5 and finished 3rd all-time with 710 pass attempts and 442 completions. He would also rank 4th in yards with 5,351 and a 62.3 completion rate, and finished 5th all-time in touchdown passes with 35.
Brady wouldn’t be taken in the NFL Draft until the 6th round and was taken 199th overall by the New England Patriots. Brady ended up with a record of 219-64 with the Patriots over 20 seasons. He accumulated 74,571 yards and 541 touchdowns against only 179 interceptions. He helped guide the Patriots to six Super Bowl victories in nine appearances with the only losses coming at the hands of the Giants (2) and the Eagles.
After the 2019 season, Brady parted ways with the Patriots in favor of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He proved to the world that he could do it with another team, as Tampa became the first team ever to host a Super Bowl as they took on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Brady would help lead the Bucs to a Super Bowl Championship and in doing so, earned his 7th overall. Say what you will about him, but Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback of all-time.
