The 8th Annual Lionfish Bash Spearing Tournament is a triple threat. It raises money for the Woody Foundation for the spinal cord injury community, it helps rid the reefs of the invasive Indo-Pacific lionfish, and it’s an awesome way to spend your weekend! On Friday, June 15th, attend the “Captain’s Meeting” with an open bar, a lionfish safety tutorial, and a door prize raffle. Then, on Saturday, the diving will begin at sunrise, with a weigh-in afterwards from 3-5 p.m. Lastly, there’s a cocktail hour, awards dinner, and awards dinner after party to help wrap up your fun-packed weekend!

Throughout the month of June, partake in the Turtle Trek! The Sea Turtle Oversight Protection Staff will organize a presentation that serves to highlight the dangers these turtles face as they hatch from their eggs, providing interesting facts and information. Then, depending on whether or not you’re lucky enough, you might see some baby turtles! Sometimes the turtles get confused by the city lights and will crawl towards the street instead of the water. The trained staff will make sure this doesn’t happen as they rescue the cute critters. 100% of the proceeds help them fund their rescue operations!

FLOAT ON OVER
June 30

FlockFest at Sebastian Beach in Fort Lauderdale is an entertaining event for a great cause. Founders Steven Crawford and Bryan Wilson created this fest with free-spirited fun in mind. It’s simple: purchase the biggest inflatable float you can find, and head to the beach for an afternoon of silliness and socialization. When you purchase the Hassle-Free VIP ticket, you receive a special VIP float, a free FlockFest T-shirt and beach chair, and a shady VIP tent. Proceeds from the ticket sales, and any additional desired donations go towards The Renand Foundation. They provide schooling, jobs, family housing, and health services to villages in Haiti to fight child slavery.
